๐Ÿค– Bangboo Selection Guide โ€“ Best Picks for Every Team

๐Ÿค– Bangboo Basics

Bangboo are robotic companions that follow your team into combat in Zenless Zone Zero. Unlike characters, you can equip exactly one Bangboo per team, and the choice matters significantly for your team's overall performance. This guide helps you pick the right Bangboo for your specific team composition โ€” not which Bangboo is strongest overall (see our Bangboo Ranking for tier list data).

How Bangboo Work

  • Active Skill: Press the Bangboo button (Q on keyboard, left bumper on controller) to activate. Each Bangboo has a unique active effect โ€” damage, crowd control, healing, shields, or debuffs. Cooldowns range from 15โ€“25 seconds.
  • Passive Modifier: A permanent team-wide buff like +10% Anomaly Proficiency, +8% ATK, or +8% Ice DMG. These apply automatically as long as the Bangboo is equipped.
  • Faction Synergy: When your team has 2+ characters from the Bangboo's matching faction, the active skill gains bonus effects โ€” extra damage, reduced cooldown, stronger debuffs, or added utility. This is the single most important factor in Bangboo selection.
  • Level Scaling: Active skill damage scales with Bangboo level (max 60). Passives and faction synergies do not benefit from leveling. A level 1 Bangboo provides full passive value.

How to Unlock Bangboo

  • Bangvolver (Starter): Given automatically during the tutorial. It's a basic Physical Bangboo โ€” replace it as soon as possible.
  • Bangboo Channel (Gacha): Dedicated banner using Boopons (separate currency from Polychromes). No 50/50 โ€” every S-rank pull is one of the featured Bangboo. Guaranteed S-rank within 80 pulls.
  • Hollow Zero: Earn initial Boopons and Bangboo EXP materials from Hollow Zero exploration and weekly rewards.
  • Battle Pass (Free): Provides a random A-rank Bangboo and Boopons each season.
  • Events: Time-limited events frequently give A-rank Bangboo and Boopons as rewards.

Upgrade Materials

  • Bangboo EXP Chips: Earned from Hollow Zero, Battle Pass, and events. Used to level Bangboo from 1 to 60.
  • Dennies: Leveling costs Dennies. A level 60 Bangboo requires approximately 200,000 Dennies total.
  • Duplicates (Mindscapes): Pulling a duplicate Bangboo grants its Mindscape (M1, M2, etc.). Each Mindscape level enhances the active skill โ€” e.g., more damage, longer duration, or extra effects. M1 is typically a 15โ€“20% performance increase. M6 doubles the effective power of some Bangboo.

๐Ÿ’ก Key Insight: Faction synergy is more important than rarity. An A-rank Bangboo with active faction synergy often outperforms an S-rank Bangboo without it. Always prioritize faction-matching Bangboo first when building a team.

๐ŸŒŸ S-Rank Bangboo Guide

S-rank Bangboo are the most powerful companions, but their value depends heavily on how well they match your team's element and faction. Below is each S-rank Bangboo with its abilities and best team fits.

BangbooFactionActive SkillPassiveBest Team Compositions
Safety Belobog Heavy Creates a barrier reducing 40% incoming damage for 8s. Stuns nearby enemies for 2s on cast. Cooldown: 20s. +8% Max HP Any team needing survivability. Best-in-slot for Caesar-less teams, Hollow Zero high-difficulty, and Shiyu Defense against heavy-hitting bosses. Synergy bonus: barrier duration +3s with Belobog teammates (Koleda, Ben, Anton).
Plugboo Cunning Hares Summons a lightning field dealing Electric DMG over 6s. Increases Electric anomaly buildup by 30% during its duration. Cooldown: 18s. +10% Anomaly Proficiency Electric Anomaly / Disorder teams. Yanagi + Burnice, Yanagi + Grace, Grace + Rina. The 30% buildup buff is the strongest anomaly acceleration in the game. Synergy bonus: +10% Electric buildup with Cunning Hares (Anby, Nicole, Billy).
Rocketboo Sons of Calydon Fires 5 rockets dealing Fire DMG. Each rocket applies 5% DEF shred (max 25%) with faction synergy. Cooldown: 22s. +10% ATK Fire teams. Burnice + Lucy, Burnice + Caesar, Soldier 11 + Koleda. The stacking DEF shred amplifies all team damage by 15-20%. Synergy bonus: DEF shred per rocket with Sons of Calydon (Burnice, Lucy, Piper, Caesar).
Avocaboo Victoria Housekeeping Heals active character for 15% of max HP every 3s for 12s. Cooldown: 20s. +5% Energy Regen Any team that needs healing. Best-in-slot for Hollow Zero (health carries over between fights). Excellent with high-HP characters (Caesar, Ben). Synergy bonus: +5% healing per Victoria Housekeeping member (Ellen, Lycaon, Rina, Corrin).
Resonaboo Victoria Housekeeping Creates an Ice zone that slows enemies and increases Ice DMG taken by 15%. Lasts 10s. Cooldown: 20s. +8% Ice DMG Ice teams exclusively. Ellen Joe + Lycaon + Soukaku, Miyabi + Lycaon. The 15% Ice DMG vulnerability is a massive multiplier. Synergy bonus: additionally shreds 10% Ice RES with Victoria Housekeeping members. See the Special Synergies section below for detailed faction interaction.
Eous Generic Deals high Physical DMG in a wide AoE with additional damage to stunned enemies. Cooldown: 18s. +8% CRIT Rate Stun-based burst teams. Zhu Yuan + Qingyi, Ellen + Lycaon, Soldier 11 + Koleda. Eous rewards setups that build stun quickly and burst during stun windows. The CRIT Rate passive benefits any crit-scaling DPS.
Sharkboo Victoria Housekeeping Deals Ice DMG and applies a stackable slow (up to 50% movement speed reduction). Cooldown: 15s. +6% Ice DMG Ice teams (budget Resonaboo). Ellen Joe teams without Resonaboo, or as a second Bangboo in Shiyu Defense. The short cooldown and stacking slow make it excellent for hit-and-run playstyles.

๐Ÿ’ก Safety's damage reduction stacks with Caesar's shield โ€” a Caesar + Safety team takes roughly 75% less damage during the barrier window. This is the single tankiest combination in the game and trivializes most boss mechanics.

โญ A-Rank Bangboo Guide

A-rank Bangboo are easier to obtain and many provide specialized utility that can outperform mismatched S-rank options. These are your faction-specific budget picks.

BangbooFactionActive SkillPassiveBest Team Compositions
Electroboo Cunning Hares Deals Electric DMG and increases team Energy Regen by 0.3/s for 10s. Cooldown: 15s. +6% ATK Literally every team. The Energy Regen buff is universally valuable. Best budget pick for Energy-hungry DPS like Zhu Yuan, Yanagi, and Burnice. With Cunning Hares: cooldown reduced to 12s.
Magnetboo Belobog Heavy Pulls enemies toward a central point with strong suction force. Cooldown: 18s. +6% ATK Any team without grouping. Anomaly teams (Piper, Jane Doe, Burnice), melee DPS teams. Grouping multiplies AoE damage by 2-3x against scattered enemies. Synergy bonus: +30% pull radius with Belobog teammates.
Butlerboo Victoria Housekeeping Cleanses all debuffs and grants +10% ATK for 10s. Cooldown: 20s. +8% Energy Regen Teams against debuff-heavy enemies. Hollow Zero corruption nodes, bosses that apply slows or DEF downs. The cleanse is unique among Bangboo. Synergy bonus: ATK buff extends to 14s with Victoria Housekeeping.
Devilboo Cunning Hares Deals Electric DMG with a 40% chance to stun (Daze). Cooldown: 16s. +5% Impact Budget Electric / Stun teams. Anby teams, budget Yanagi teams. The 40% stun chance on a 16s cooldown is excellent for building Daze between stun windows. Synergy bonus: stun chance +15% with Cunning Hares.
Boomboo Cunning Hares Deals Physical DMG in a wide AoE. Cooldown: 15s. +5% ATK General-purpose (early game only). Decent for story content and early Shiyu Defense. Outclassed by Electroboo for utility and by Eous for damage. Quick cooldown makes it spammable but the damage doesn't scale well.
Sumoboo Belobog Heavy Deals Physical DMG and taunts enemies for 3s. Cooldown: 20s. +6% Max HP Situational (non-boss content). The taunt works on elite enemies and mobs but not on bosses. Useful for protecting squishy teammates in Hollow Zero but outclassed by Safety's barrier in most scenarios.
Mumbleboo Generic Deals random element DMG. Cooldown: 15s. +4% ATK Avoid for endgame. The random element makes it unreliable for element-specific team building. Its only use is as a placeholder if you have literally nothing else.
Bangvolver Generic Fires a ranged Physical shot. Cooldown: 12s. +3% ATK Replace immediately. The starter Bangboo. Lowest stats, lowest damage, no utility. Get Electroboo as your first upgrade.

๐Ÿ’ก Electroboo is the single highest-value A-rank Bangboo. Its Energy Regen buff (0.3/s for 10s) is equivalent to giving your entire team a free Energy Regen Drive Disc substat on demand. Every account should have one.

๐ŸŽฏ Table 1: Best Bangboo by Team Element / Archetype

Use this table when you know your team's element or archetype but haven't decided on a Bangboo. Match your team's primary element and role below.

Team Element / ArchetypeBest Bangboo (S-rank)F2P / Budget PickWhy This Pick
๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire Anomaly (Burnice + Lucy + Caesar) Rocketboo Magnetboo Rocketboo's 25% DEF shred is a massive team-wide damage amp. Magnetboo groups adds so Burnice's Afterburn hits everything simultaneously.
โšก Electric Anomaly (Yanagi + Grace + Rina) Plugboo Electroboo Plugboo's 30% Electric buildup buff is the strongest anomaly accelerator in the game. Electroboo helps everyone use more EX Specials.
๐ŸงŠ Ice Burst (Ellen + Lycaon + Soukaku) Resonaboo Sharkboo Resonaboo's Ice DMG vulnerability + Ice RES shred is a 25%+ damage multiplier. Sharkboo offers stacking slow for easier combo execution.
๐ŸŒ‘ Ether Burst (Zhu Yuan + Qingyi + Nicole) Eous Electroboo Eous's stun-bonus damage aligns perfectly with Zhu Yuan's burst window. Electroboo's Energy Regen helps Zhu Yuan maintain her EX Special rotation.
๐ŸŸค Physical Anomaly (Jane Doe + Seth + Caesar) Safety Electroboo Safety's damage reduction keeps Jane alive during her high-risk dodge-counter playstyle. Electroboo helps Seth maintain his shield uptime.
๐ŸŒช๏ธ Disorder (Any dual-element anomaly mix) Plugboo / Rocketboo Electroboo Plugboo if Electric is one of your elements, Rocketboo if Fire is. Electroboo is the fallback if neither element matches.
โ›“๏ธ Stun / Burst (Stunner + Burst DPS + Support) Eous Electroboo Eous deals bonus damage to stunned enemies, perfectly syncing with your stun-window burst rotation. Electroboo gives more energy for the burst combo.
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Hypercarry (1 DPS + 2 Supports) Electroboo Electroboo Electroboo is actually best here โ€” the Energy Regen lets your supports spam buffs and your DPS spam EX Specials. Consistent performance across all hypercarry comps.
๐Ÿ’€ Hollow Zero (General exploration) Avocaboo Safety Avocaboo's healing carries over between fights โ€” the only source of sustainable HP in long Hollow Zero runs. Safety's barrier is the backup for burst damage mitigation.

๐Ÿ’ก If your team doesn't match any specific element above, Electroboo is always a safe choice. Energy Regen benefits every team composition in the game โ€” there is no team that doesn't want more EX Special uptime.

๐Ÿข Table 2: Best Bangboo by Faction Synergy

This table helps you optimize Bangboo selection when you're running a faction-specific team. Faction synergy unlocks bonus effects that can double a Bangboo's combat contribution.

FactionFaction BangbooSynergy BonusRecommended TeamBest Bangboo Pick
๐Ÿ—๏ธ Belobog Heavy Safety (S), Magnetboo (A), Sumoboo (A) Safety: barrier +3s duration; Magnetboo: +30% pull radius; Sumoboo: taunt +1s Koleda + Ben + Anton Safety โ€” the extended barrier makes Belobog teams virtually unkillable during its uptime.
๐Ÿ‡ Cunning Hares Plugboo (S), Electroboo (A), Devilboo (A), Boomboo (A) Plugboo: +10% Electric buildup; Electroboo: -3s cooldown; Devilboo: +15% stun chance Anby + Nicole + Billy Electroboo โ€” the cooldown reduction to 12s makes it the most spammable Energy battery in the game. For anomaly teams, Plugboo with synergy is also excellent.
๐Ÿ”ฅ Sons of Calydon Rocketboo (S) Each rocket applies 5% DEF shred (max 25%) Burnice + Lucy + Piper Rocketboo โ€” the DEF shred is unique and doesn't overlap with any character kit. This is the strongest faction synergy bonus in the game, amplifying all team damage by ~18%.
๐Ÿฐ Victoria Housekeeping Resonaboo (S), Avocaboo (S), Sharkboo (A), Butlerboo (A) Resonaboo: +10% Ice RES shred; Avocaboo: +5% healing per member; Butlerboo: ATK buff +4s Ellen + Lycaon + Rina Resonaboo โ€” the Ice RES shred stacks with Lycaon's Ice RES debuff, reaching up to 40% Ice RES reduction against frozen enemies. This is the best example of faction synergy amplifying an already-strong effect.
๐Ÿค– Proxy / Mixed Eous (S), Avocaboo (S), Mumbleboo (A), Bangvolver (A) Generic (no faction-specific bonuses) Mixed faction teams (e.g., Caesar + Burnice + Yanagi) Eous or Avocaboo โ€” for mixed teams without a single dominant faction, generic S-rank Bangboo are your best bet. Eous for damage, Avocaboo for sustain. Electroboo is the best A-rank fallback.

๐Ÿ’ก Faction team building tip: If you're building a team around a specific faction (e.g., Sons of Calydon), prioritize that faction's Bangboo even if it means using an A-rank over a mismatched S-rank. Rocketboo's DEF shred alone contributes more to team DPS than any off-faction S-rank Bangboo could.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Table 3: Bangboo Upgrade Priority

Not all Bangboo benefit equally from leveling. Active skill damage scales with level, but support-oriented Bangboo provide most of their value through their passive and faction synergy โ€” which do not scale. Use this table to decide which Bangboo to level first when resources are tight.

PriorityBangbooLevel TargetWhy This Priority
๐Ÿฅ‡ Highest Plugboo, Rocketboo, Eous 60 These Bangboo deal significant active skill damage that scales directly with level. Plugboo at 60 does ~8,000 DMG over 6s vs ~4,000 at 30 โ€” a 100% increase. Leveling these first gives the biggest return on EXP investment.
๐Ÿฅ‡ Highest Resonaboo 60 Resonaboo's Ice zone damage scales with level, and the zone duration increases slightly at higher levels. Since you're already heavily invested in an Ice team, maxing this Bangboo is a direct damage multiplier.
๐Ÿฅˆ Medium Safety, Avocaboo 40-50 Safety's barrier duration and Avocaboo's healing amount scale modestly with level. Level 40 gives you ~80% of their max potential. The last 20 levels only add ~15% more value, making them lower priority per EXP spent.
๐Ÿฅˆ Medium Electroboo, Devilboo 40-50 Electroboo's damage is secondary to its Energy Regen buff. Level 40 is sufficient for its role. Devilboo's stun chance doesn't scale with level โ€” only its damage does.
๐Ÿฅ‰ Low Magnetboo, Butlerboo, Sumoboo 20-30 These Bangboo provide purely utility effects โ€” grouping, cleansing, taunting. None of these scale with level. A level 20 Magnetboo pulls enemies just as effectively as a level 60 one. Only level them if you have spare EXP chips after maxing your damage Bangboo.
โŒ Skip Mumbleboo, Bangvolver 1 Don't waste resources on these. You'll replace them with better options quickly. The EXP chips used on them are effectively lost since there's no resource refund system.

๐Ÿ’ก Resource Efficiency Tip: You get enough EXP chips to max roughly 1.5 Bangboo per patch (6 weeks) as a F2P player. Prioritize your damage-dealing Bangboo (Plugboo, Rocketboo, Eous, Resonaboo) and leave support Bangboo at level 40. The total resource savings from not maxing support Bangboo allows you to level one additional damage Bangboo over three patches.

๐ŸŒ Best All-Purpose Bangboo Picks

Sometimes you need a Bangboo that works well regardless of team composition โ€” for example, when switching teams frequently, using mixed-faction comps, or as a new player who hasn't specialized yet. Here are the best generalist picks.

Pick TypeBangbooWhy It's All-Purpose
๐Ÿ† Best Overall Generalist Electroboo (A) Energy Regen benefits every team. Short cooldown (15s, 12s with Cunning Hares). Easy to obtain (A-rank). Works equally well in Anomaly, Burst, and Support comps. The only Bangboo that has zero team requirements to provide full value.
๐Ÿ† Best S-rank Generalist Eous CRIT Rate passive (+8%) benefits most DPS characters. High base damage that rewards good play (stun windows). No faction requirement for full damage. Works in any team that has a stunner โ€” which is most well-built teams.
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Best Survival Generalist Safety 40% damage reduction is valuable regardless of team. The built-in stun on cast provides a mini-CC that benefits every playstyle. No healing requirement, no element requirement. Just universal survivability.
๐Ÿฅ Best Sustain Generalist Avocaboo The only healing Bangboo in the game. Works in any team composition. Particularly valuable in content where HP carries over (Hollow Zero) or when your team lacks a defensive support.
๐Ÿ”„ Best AOE Generalist Magnetboo Enemy grouping is universally valuable regardless of element or team role. A single Magnetboo cast can save 10-15 seconds per wave in Shiyu Defense by clustering adds for your DPS to AoE down.

๐Ÿ’ก New Player Priority: If you're just starting and have no specialized teams yet, get Electroboo first. It's an A-rank (easy to pull), works in every team, and remains relevant even after you acquire all the S-rank Bangboo. It's the only Bangboo you'll never fully outgrow.

๐Ÿ†“ F2P Bangboo Selection Advice

As a free-to-play player, you get roughly 1 S-rank Bangboo every 4-5 months and 3-4 A-rank Bangboo per patch. Here's how to allocate those limited resources across your teams.

F2P Acquisition Roadmap

  1. Immediate (Day 1โ€“30): Get Electroboo from the free Battle Pass track or from your first 10-pull on the Bangboo Channel. This is your universal Bangboo that works on both Shiyu Defense teams. Don't bother leveling Bangvolver beyond 1.
  2. Short-term (Month 1โ€“2): Save Boopons for Safety when it appears on the featured rotation. Safety is the single most impactful S-rank for F2P accounts because it substitutes for not having Caesar. If you already have Caesar, prioritize Plugboo or Rocketboo depending on your main team's element.
  3. Mid-term (Month 2โ€“4): Pull a second S-rank Bangboo that matches your second Shiyu Defense team. If Team 1 is Fire (Rocketboo), get Plugboo for Team 2 (if Electric). If both teams share an element, get Eous as a generic DPS option for whichever team lacks a faction-matching Bangboo.
  4. Long-term (Month 4+): Collect Avocaboo for Hollow Zero optimization and any remaining A-rank Bangboo (Magnetboo, Butlerboo) as situational picks. At this point you'll have 3-4 S-rank Bangboo covering most team archetypes.

Two-Team Bangboo Allocation (Shiyu Defense)

Your Bangboo CollectionTeam 1Team 2
1 S-rank + 1 A-rankS-rank (element-matching if possible)Electroboo
2 S-rank + ElectrobooS-rank (element-matching)S-rank (or Electroboo if element doesn't match)
3+ S-rank + all A-rankBest element matchSecond best element match or Electroboo

What to Skip as F2P

  • Don't pull for Mindscapes (duplicates) on purpose. Mindscapes are nice but the relative gain (15-20% per duplicate) doesn't justify 80 pulls worth of Boopons when you could get a new S-rank Bangboo instead.
  • Don't pull off-element S-rank Bangboo just because they're "S-rank." An S-rank Bangboo that doesn't match your team's element or faction is often worse than an A-rank that does (like Electroboo).
  • Don't buy Boopons with Polychromes. Boopons are exclusively earned from Hollow Zero, events, and Battle Pass. Polychromes are for character banners. Never convert Polychromes to Boopons.
  • Don't waste EXP on Bangvolver or Mumbleboo. These are trap Bangboo that will be replaced within your first few weeks. Save your EXP chips for real Bangboo.

๐Ÿ’ก F2P Bangboo Income Math: ~150 Boopons/month from Hollow Zero + events + Battle Pass free track. One S-rank guarantee = 640 Boopons (80 pulls at 8 per pull). That means ~4.3 months per guaranteed S-rank. In the meantime, you'll get 5-8 A-rank Bangboo from pulls and events. This is more than enough to field two competitive teams.

๐Ÿ”— Special Synergies: Resonaboo and Faction-Specific Teams

Resonaboo is the best example of a Bangboo whose value is completely transformed by its faction synergy. Here's a deep dive into how its faction bonuses stack with character kits to create outsized team performance.

How Resonaboo's Faction Synergy Works

Resonaboo belongs to Victoria Housekeeping. When paired with 2+ Victoria Housekeeping characters (Ellen, Lycaon, Rina, Corrin), Resonaboo gains:

  • Base effect: Creates an Ice zone slowing enemies by 30% and increasing Ice DMG taken by 15%.
  • Faction synergy bonus: Enemies inside the zone additionally have their Ice RES reduced by 10%.

The Stacking Ice RES Shred

The truly broken interaction happens when you pair Resonaboo with Lycaon. Lycaon's core passive applies a 25% Ice RES shred to enemies he hits while charging. Combined with Resonaboo's 10% Ice RES shred from faction synergy, enemies take:

  • Normal enemies: 0% base Ice RES โ†’ -35% Ice RES (enemies below 0% take extra damage)
  • Elite enemies with 20% Ice RES: 20% โ†’ -15% Ice RES (effectively 35% more Ice DMG taken)
  • Bosses with 40% Ice RES: 40% โ†’ 5% Ice RES (effectively 35% more Ice DMG taken โ€” the same absolute value!)

Against a typical level 70 boss with 40% Ice RES, Resonaboo + Lycaon turns a 40% damage reduction into a 5% damage reduction โ€” that's a 58% effective damage increase for your Ice DPS (Ellen or Miyabi) compared to running without both debuffs.

Optimal Resonaboo Teams

TeamResonaboo Synergy LevelEffective Ice DMG Multiplier
Ellen + Lycaon + Soukakuโœ… Full (3 Victoria Housekeeping)+35% Ice DMG (15% vulnerability + 10% RES shred + 10% from Soukaku buff)
Ellen + Lycaon + Rinaโœ… Full (3 Victoria Housekeeping)+35% Ice DMG + 30% PEN from Rina
Miyabi + Lycaon + Soukakuโš ๏ธ Partial (1 Victoria Housekeeping โ€” no synergy)+15% Ice DMG (base effect only, no RES shred)
Ellen + Caesar + Lycaonโš ๏ธ Partial (1 Victoria Housekeeping โ€” Lycaon only)+15% Ice DMG (base effect only + Caesar's ATK buff)

๐Ÿ’ก Important distinction: Ice DMG Taken (vulnerability) and Ice RES Shred (penetration) are different multipliers in ZZZ's damage formula. They stack multiplicatively โ€” meaning 15% vulnerability ร— 10% RES shred = ~26.5% total Ice DMG increase, not the additive 25% you might expect. When you add Lycaon's 25% RES shred, the total becomes multiplicative across three layers: 1.15 ร— 1.10 ร— 1.25 = 1.581, or ~58% more Ice damage.

Other Notable Faction Synergies

  • Safety + Belobog Heavy (Koleda + Ben): The extended barrier (11s total) covers nearly an entire rotation cycle, making Belobog teams the tankiest in the game. Safety's on-cast stun also charges Koleda's passive faster.
  • Rocketboo + Sons of Calydon (Burnice + Lucy): The 25% DEF shred stacks with Burnice's Afterburn damage. At 5 stacks, your entire team deals ~18% more damage to the shredded target. Since Rocketboo's rockets can be launched mid-combo without interrupting Burnice's rotation, this is a zero-DPS-loss damage amp.
  • Plugboo + Cunning Hares (Anby + Nicole): The +10% Electric buildup bonus on top of the base 30% means Anby can trigger Electric anomalies in 35% less time. For a team running Anby as sub-DPS, this significantly improves the team's overall anomaly damage contribution.

๐Ÿ’ก Bangboo Usage Tips

โ‘  Don't hoard your Bangboo active skill. Unlike character ultimates, Bangboo skills have short cooldowns (15-25s) and should be used on cooldown. There's rarely a reason to save them โ€” the DPS loss from holding is greater than the benefit of perfectly timing every cast.

โ‘ก Use Bangboo skills during character swap animations. Bangboo skills can be activated while another character's animation is playing (EX Special, Quick Assist, Chain Attack). This allows you to weave Bangboo usage into your rotation without losing uptime on your main DPS.

โ‘ข Magnetboo + Burnice is a devastating combo. Magnetboo pulls enemies into a tight cluster, then Burnice's Afterburn hits all of them simultaneously. Against 5+ enemies, this combo can deal 5x the damage of hitting a single target. Use Magnetboo first, then immediately swap to Burnice.

โ‘ฃ Align Safety's barrier with boss attack patterns. Safety's 8s barrier is best used reactively โ€” wait for the boss to telegraph a heavy attack (the screen flash or audio cue), then activate it. This way you get the full damage reduction for the dangerous window rather than wasting it on auto-attacks.

โ‘ค Electroboo + Energy-hungry DPS is a "feel" upgrade. Zhu Yuan, Yanagi, and Burnice all benefit disproportionately from Electroboo's Energy Regen because their rotations are gated by EX Special energy costs. The extra 0.3 Energy/s for 10s translates to roughly one extra EX Special every 3 rotations โ€” which is a 10-15% DPS increase for Energy-constrained characters.

โ‘ฅ Avocaboo's healing is affected by incoming healing bonus. While no character currently provides incoming healing bonus as a dedicated stat, Caesar's shield and any DEF-increasing effects effectively amplify Avocaboo's healing because the HP healed goes further when damage is mitigated. This makes Avocaboo + Safety + Caesar the ultimate sustain trio for Hollow Zero.

โ‘ฆ You can pre-select Bangboo before entering Shiyu Defense. After seeing the enemy lineup on each side, go back to the team formation screen and switch Bangboo to counter the specific enemies. For example, switch to Safety against the double-tank boss floor, or to Magnetboo against swarm floors. Don't just equip the same Bangboo on both sides blindly.
